Parking Skin & Interstitial Garden

Automated parking are sustainable because they don’t need a 24/7 ventilation as cars’ motors don’t run inside. This needs to show, and for this, and in order to complete the external materials used for the three-existing building, we propose to have the skin of the parking building to be made from a light structure filled with maintenance free climbing plants.

Apart from a bold signal about going green, it will also be a great neighbor to the former PMDC HQ, and participate into making the are a greater place. This generous move towards the city will be extremely positive for the Company’s image.

The parking’s steel structure is continued, prefabricated panels would be installed easily with a few connecting points. Those panels are designed to overlap in order to house suspended planters behind their top.

The volume of the parking is extended in order to align with the old PMDC HQ, in order to bring some order into the composition of the built masses, the additional part cantilever above the entrance and act as a canopy protecting the car users when they deposit/pick up their car. It also breaks the ‘box’ volume of the parking and participate to turn into an attractive architecture.

The face of the vertical garden overhanging above the entrance can be planted with more care intensive plants that would provide flowers and color variations along the year. The angles of the overlapping green walls give a rhythm to the parking’s volume. Along the year, according to seasons, various climbing plants will flourish, creating an ever-changing elevation. At the corners, the angled green walls are interlocked in order to cover the opened angles. This participates to the identity of the building.
